A Conversation – Campaign Poster Parody

obamaposterparody

This piece is very much inspired by Shepard Faireys’ ‘HOPE’ Obama campaign poster, and it is very much a parody of it. I used a picture of a dumb-looking classic toy robot in place of what would usually be a powerful figure. I picked this image as a physical figure to represent cleverbot, and given it’s silly appearance, I think it fits well. The caption is a quote taken from an argument cleverbot had with itself, which I found suitably comical.

A Conversation – Campaign Poster Idea

Inspired by the conversation with cleverbot, this would depict a robot in place of a political figure on a campaign poster in the same vain as those presented below.

Instead of the powerful caption that would typically accompany posters like these, I would use a silly, nonsensical quote taken from cleverbot, poking fun at how politicians often speak nonsense themselves.

A Conversation With AI – Cleverbot (research)

Cleverbot is an AI chatbot accessible by anyone with an internet connection. Having toyed with it before, I feel that it could prove to be an interesting starting point for this project.

Part of a conversation between cleverbot and itself

As you can see, Cleverbot is quite difficult to have a meaningful discussion with, much of what it says being seemingly random or nonsensical. A large factor for this is most likely the fact that, as stated on the webpage itself, “cleverbot learns from people”. Since many, if not most people are going to “mess” with it instead of trying to have a correct, polite discussion, it’s easy to see how it could pick up a few negative techniques and traits.

Perhaps it would be easier to talk to if it “learned” properly, in a more professional environment?
